Florida Woman Finds 4 Adorable Baby Owls In Her Backyard Owl Box

April 7, 2025

One Florida woman is proving you don’t need to live in the middle of nowhere to enjoy a little backyard wildlife magic.

Living in a residential neighborhood in Central Florida, she purchased a simple owl box on Amazon a few years ago—and ever since, Eastern screech owls have been coming back every year.

This season, she was thrilled to find four baby owls tucked inside the box.

The woman made sure not to disturb the little family—she didn’t open the box, just gently held her camera over the top for a quick look, adding that the mother was watching closey and is "used to her".

This is the video she shared:

According to her, the owls usually start showing up around the end of February. After the babies leave the nest, she cleans out the box to keep it ready for the next season—no bedding, just a fresh start each year.

Want to see baby owls in your own yard?

She says it’s easier than you might think. She recommends a ready-made "Owl Box" she found on Amazon.

“I just put it up in a tree about 10 feet high,” she explained. “Make sure the opening faces any direction but north, and keep about an inch or two of wood chips in the bottom. The owls will find it.”
