February 11, 2025
Today's good news story comes from San Antonio, Texas.
For 85 cancer patients in San Antonio, Saturday morning was not just about treatments—it was about transformation.
Thanks to a heartwarming partnership between Texas Oncology and the nonprofit Angeles Sin Fronteras (Angels Without Borders), these women received makeovers and a fresh head of hair, giving them a renewed sense of confidence and joy.

“I’m feeling wonderful, I feel very pampered,” said Leticia Heriford, one of the recipients. “I think I have some life in me after a very long time.”
Angels Without Borders, founded by cancer survivor Tere Castello, collects donated wigs and makeup kits to give to cancer patients, ensuring that beauty and dignity remain part of their journey. The organization distributes around 500 wigs every year, helping women feel like themselves again, despite the hardships of treatment.
Medical oncologist Dr. Emmalind Aponte from Texas Oncology emphasized the impact of self-care on a patient’s well-being.
“Just having something to maybe take the focus out of the cancer diagnosis and help you just to feel better about yourself, it can improve how you follow your treatment,” she explained.
